The Alessi Mission
Alessi, founded in 1921 as the "Technical workshop for the processing of brass and nickel-silver plates, with foundry", has always been known for the superior quality of its products. Over the course of almost a century, it has gradually become one of the foremost representatives of the Italian design industry, applying its outstanding design management skills to a wide variety of product types. The company is open to change and international developments, but at the same time firmly rooted in the tradition and cultural heritage of its environment. Alessi is still synonymous with objects that convince by their craftsmanship qualities, but are made with the help of machines.
The mission of the company today is to transfer the most progressive design ideas from the cultural, aesthetic, manufacturing and functional aspects to industrial mass production. A design product stems from the ongoing dialogue between art and industry, between the "immensity of the creative" and the demands of the marketplace. Alessi's work is a constant tightrope walk and a balance: on the one hand, the most modern expressions of international creativity, on the other, the wishes of the public. The company was described as "Fabbrica dei sogni", as a "dream factory": its products are intended to make a contribution to happiness and to pay tribute to the need for the artistic and poetic that unites all people.
