GLOBAL® KNIVES STORY

October the 10th, 1953… If we want to give a birth date to GOYON-CHAZEAU’s name, it would be the date of Solange CHAZEAU

Just married, the young couple combines his two family names to offer at home polishers services, to the many cutlery factories established in Thiers city area, the French capital for cutlery.

Gabriel and Solange, the "GOYON-CHAZEAU", specialize themselves gradually in the high-end cutlery. Nevertheless, in order to distinguish and specialize themselves face to the multitude of cutler workshops of Thiers labor pool, they complete their polishing know-how by the mastering of stainless

Recognized for the quality of their work, the most important cutleries entrust them their big account orders.

Thus, blade after blade, knife after knife, their activity grows ... and so does their family with the birth of their son Denis in 1956.

Denis grows between blades and handles. Sometimes, and then more and more often, he helps his parents and he finaly ends up being taken in turn by the knife passion. He officially joins the cutlery workshop in November 1973.

With six hands and with an ever increasing activity, the workshop becomes too small. The couple then decides to build a small factory beside their house and creates, on December the 30th, 1975 the company Ets GOYON-CHAZEAU.

Cutler know-how is not an easy job but a succession of knowledges and techniques that must be mastered and carefully combined to make quality knives, knives that cut!

The mastering of this combination is the « master cutler » art.

It is over years and generations that GOYON-CHAZEAU acquired this mastery of cutlery by organizing, one after the other, the steps of making a knife, that are called "ranks".

A GOYON-CHAZEAU knife, or cutlery piece, uses more than 40 ranks and is made with supplies exclusively coming from Thiers labor pool, French capital city of cutlery for 6 centuries.

GOYON-CHAZEAU’s signature is Cœur de Forge (forge heart). This is not only because the team puts all its heart to work but also because it is one of the the last to produce full forged table knives.

Guarantee of quality, this integral forge is made from a massive round steel bar heated until it merges. The bar is then pressed in order to obtain the final shape of the knife, a raw forged piece without any welding.

Forged in the best steels, GOYON-CHAZEAU’s knives go through more than 40 manufacturing steps which main ones are the hardenning, the grinding, the handmade shaping and sharpening, to offer a perfect knife.

Forged quality is characterized by a high robustness and sustainability, an excellent cutting performance and a very good balance in hand. At the same time, GOYON-CHAZEAU is also looking for for ergonomics, noble materials and careful manual finishing. This search for perfection allows the company to propose incomparable and unique knives and cutlery with high added value.
